The Wawa Volunteer Fire Department operates out of one fire station at 12 Ontario Street by volunteer firefighters on an on-call basis

We accept applications all year round. If you have applied and there are no vacancies, you will receive a letter stating you are on the list for the next round of hiring.

In order to be a volunteer firefighter with the Wawa Volunteer Fire Department, here are some of the requirements:

Volunteering

must live within Wawa
minimum of 18 years of age
must be able to meet the physical requirements of this demanding position
a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a requirement to obtain a DZ endorsement within two (2) years
ability to operate in high stress, time sensitive situations
you must have a grade 12 diploma or the equivalency
must be willing to be on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
work well with a team
